The Red Lake Agency was established on the Red Lake Reservation as a separate agency for the Red Lake Chippewa in 1873. In 1879 the Red Lake and Leech Lake agencies were consolidated into the White Earth Agency, whose jurisdiction included Red Lake until 1899, when a separate agency was again established at Leech Lake. The Leech Lake Agency administered the affairs of the Red Lake Chippewa from 1899 to 1906, when the Red Lake Agency was separated from the Leech Lake Agency. From the ...
